The masses that made it to Electric Daisy Carnival last year in Los Angeles

As you can see, we are rapidly approaching ‘festival season’ with all of these amazing festival lineups being announced on a regular basis. This summer is going to be one of the biggest summers in the history of house music. We are going to be covering quite a bit of news from these festivals. Keep an eye out for tons of interviews over the course of the summer also.

Here are my personal recommendations for the summer festivals you should try to attend. There are just so many festivals now, but I was able to narrow down these five based on a few factors: lineup, production, venue(s), hype, previous success, and publicity.

5) Mysteryland

Produced by the incredible ID&T, Mysteryland is the one festival I personally would like to go to at some point in the next couple of years. The oldest festival in Holland, it is kind of a fusion of dance music and art, which I personally think is really cool.

The beautiful Mysteryland festival in Amsterdam

The venue is in beautiful Amsterdam, on Haarlemmermeer which is basically a man-made island. The atmosphere of this festival seems to be like nothing I have ever seen before. This year’s lineup consists of names including Afrojack, AN21 & Max Vangeli, Dirty South, Fedde Le Grand, Funkagenda, Joris Voorn, Martin Solveig, Moguai, and Sebastian Ingrosso. Take a look at our previous coverage for some more information.

4) Tomorrowland

Also produced by ID&T, Tomorrowland is one of the world’s most popular festivals. It was just announced that the Swedish House Mafia will be headlining one of the days and some other talent in the lineup includes Kaskade, Fedde Le Grand, Tiesto, Martin Solveig, Avicii, Afrojack, Above & Beyond, David Guetta, and Myback to name a few. Check out the whole lineup here.

Tomorrowland 2010

Tomorrowland is located in Boom, Belgium and will be a three day ordeal starting July 22nd. Similar to Mysteryland, it is one of those festivals with a fantasy theme and just absolutely amazing talent.

3) Identity Festival

Well first of all if you are in the United States, it will not be very hard to make it to the brand new Identity Festival. The first ever touring electronic ONLY music festival, Identity Festival will make stops in the biggest cities in the United States between August 11th and September 11th.

Featuring Avicii, Kaskade, NERVO, Skrillex, Pete Tong, Chuckie, and more, Identity will be a very cool experience. As more information comes in, we will be sure to keep you updated. Find out everything else at their website.

2) Electric Zoo

We have had the chance to make it to both Electric Zoo Festivals the past two years. One of the United States’ best electronic music festivals, Electric Zoo has proved to be extremely successful by providing incredible artists, great food, and a spectacular venue.

Located on Randall’s Island right off of New York City, this festival is just a weekend of sun, fun, and house music. We did serious coverage at last year’s festival, stay tuned for more coverage this year! It will be three days this September starting on September 2nd featuring David Guetta, Tiesto, and Armin Van Buuren as the headliners. Other talent includes Above & Beyond, Afrojack, John Digweed, Skrillex, Calvin Harris, and more. As soon as the rest of the lineup is announced, you guys will be the first to know!

1) Electric Daisy Carnival (Las Vegas)

What else do I say about this festival other than the fact that it will be the biggest festival of the entire summer. Moved from Los Angeles to the blooming house music scene of Las Vegas, Electric Daisy Carnival is going to be crazier than ever.

Literally the most attended festival in the United States, last year’s EDC in Los Angeles set the stage for this summer. A massive venue and prime location, this festival will make history, there is no doubt about that. Next month on June 24th, the madness begins. All information can be found on their website.
